Nordic Walking Instructor Course (1 day)

Course contents:
  • history/background of Nordic Walking
  • health benefits for different populations
  • fitness improvements through Nordic Walking
  • anatomy & physiology related to Nordic Walking
  • practise teaching and adapt different Nordic Walking techniques focused on the individual
  • observe and use drills for correct technique
  • relevant warm up/main workout/cool down including stretching
  • plan and teach a safe and effective NW session appropriate to outdoor conditions and abilities of the group
  • complement NW sessions with strength training exercises, core stability exercises etc.

You will receive 'Nordic Walking Instructor', a reference book including all the topics of the Nordic Walking Instructor course and also a guide on how to prepare a Nordic Walking session for beginner, progressive Nordic Walking training and complementary exercises like circuits and core stability training.

Pre-requisites:
  • Experienced Nordic Walker (please contact us if you need any tutition prior to the course)
  • It would be an advantage if you are already a walk leader or have a fitness instructing, teaching or medical background.
  • First Aid certificate

Nordic Walking Assistant (1 day)

For athletics coaches and fitness enthusiasts who are motivated to promote Nordic Walking in the community and local sports clubs.
The Nordic Walking Assistant must be supervised by a Nordic Walking Instructor.
This workshop is also a preparation for the Nordic Walking Instructor Course (above).

Course contents:
  • history/background of Nordic Walking
  • refine your technique
  • plan to lead safe Nordic Walks appropriate to outdoor conditions
Pre-requisites:
  • Experienced Walker/Nordic Walker with good technique
  • Must be supervised by a local Nordic Walking Instructor
  • First Aid certificate

On successful completion ...
... you will receive a Nordic Walking Assistant certificate and can lead Nordic Walking groups.
Referral:
In the case of failing the course requirements for a successful qualification, you will get the chance of a new assessment within 3 months of the course.
